NYC is VERY SERIOUS about students’ online security! To work with any of the 1600 schools in NY, a
company must go through the most comprehensive certification process in the nation. It took us eight
complicated months to achieve this certification.
YearBoxx is also VERY SERIOUS about student security. How serious?
AWS (Amazon Web Service) hosts our backend. It also hosts companies like Netflix, LinkedIn, Meta,
ESPN, Disney, Pfizer, General Electric, Airbnb… the list is long. They are all MULTI-BILLION-DOLLAR
companies. Why do they use AWS?
Go to the internet, there are pages of technical things that AWS does to keep their customers cyber
safe. I’ll spare you this truly boring journey, it will put your feet to sleep. Suffice to say, Amazon handles
30+ percent of the market. Billion-dollar companies cannot afford to have security issues… neither can
we.
In addition to the safety protocols Amazon has in place, YearBoxx has a few protocols of our own that
will mitigate hackers.
YearBoxx collects VERY LITTLE information from students and faculty. To serve our clients, we need two
things, a name, and an email address! Were we to have a catastrophic security breech, the information
the bad guys would walk with is pretty much public already.
We DO NOT and NEVER will sell ANY INFORMATION. This is stated in our corporate bylaws as well as in
our Terms & Conditions. I might add that there are NATIONAL LAWS that protect student information
(FERPA) that we follow to the letter.
We also use the same screening filters that prevent inappropriate material from being shown as
Facebook (Meta). While this is not so much a security issue, it is an issue.
Additionally, YearBoxx operates in a closed ecosystem. NO ONE outside a particular school has access toit, greatly enhancing our security position.
