A number of years ago I was visiting with one of my advisors when a yearbook staff member came over and asked her if the sewing club was going to be in the yearbook this year. My advisor winced. This young woman had asked the same question last year. Ms. Kelly’s uncomfortable response was “Not this year Shaniqua, we just don’t have enough pages.”
That was the same answer she gave Shaniqua last year. After Shaniqua left, Ms. Kelly sadly told me that there were only three people in the Sewing Club and she just couldn’t fit a club so small into the club section. “There are 7 other clubs we can’t fit and her’s is the smallest.”
This issue has always been frustrating to me throughout my career. The first thing I do with my new yearbook staff each year is to ask them to ‘paginate’ their books… decide what is going on each page. Three weeks later, I’ll go over their pagination with them only to find that they want 220 pages of things Unfortunately, they can only afford 180 pages! Now they have to start cutting stuff out.
With YearBoxx, there is no CUTTING STUFF out.
YearBoxx has NO PAGE LIMITS. I should make that statement a little more specific… YearBoxx doesn’t have pages, which is why it has no limits… that’s what digital can do! I prefer to say that YearBoxx offers unlimited MEMORIES. Each picture is a memory, each video is multiple memories. And YearBoxx has no limits.
And so, if Ms. Kelly was publishing a digital yearbook those few years ago, the answer to Shanique would have been, ‘Of course, we can put the Sewing Club in the yearbook… we can put as many pictures as you would like… and don’t forget to get us some videos!”
The Sewing Club, with its three members, can have as many memories included as the Football Team, or the Homecoming Events.
YearBoxx preserves the entire year, all the clubs teams and events. Every student will have exposure.
YearBoxx is FULLY inclusive!
